How long is the ICS exam?

The short answer

Between one hour forty minutes and two and a half hours, depending on the category. The terms of the call do not set the time: the board does. In the last round, nursing had 2 hours for 95 questions and nursing assistant 1 hour 40 minutes for 80. In the 8 notices of 30.07.2026 the allowance runs from 100 to 150 minutes for both exercises together.

Read off the cover of each paper. The older papers do not print the time allowed.

In this round's notices the time runs from 100 minutes (Social work, 90 questions) to 150 minutes (Physiotherapy, Obstetrics and gynaecology, Genetic counselling). In every case it is the total for both exercises: the whole sheet is handed out and the clock runs for all of it.

In practice that is about a minute and a quarter per question. Enough to read a test item calmly, and tight for a practical case with a clinical scenario in front of you — which is why timed practice matters more than open-ended drilling.

What is not known yet

The minutes for Nursing and Nursing assistant in this round have not been published. The 100–150 minute range comes from the other categories of the same process: a reasonable reference, not an official figure for yours.
