Official ICS exam papers

Official ICS exam papers, solved and explained

Every paper the ICS has published, question by question, with the official marking key's answer highlighted, a currency check and the source. Free, no sign-up.

The ICS publishes past exam papers as PDFs and, in a separate PDF, the marking key. To find out whether you got question 47 right you have to open two documents, find the matching row and cross-reference by hand. And the important question is still open: is that answer still valid in 2026?

These pages do that work for you. Every official question appears in full — statement and options, reproduced without any modification — with the board's key answer marked, a note saying what the answer rests on and whether that instrument is still in force, and a link to the official document.

Everything on these pages is free: no sign-up, no paywall, no question limit. The paid product is a different thing (syllabus, per-topic tests, spaced review and the same paper in timed mode); this is the exam, exactly as the ICS published it, made readable.

How each question was solved

The statement and the four options are reproduced verbatim from the PDF the ICS publishes. Not a word is changed: the Generalitat's reuse conditions require unaltered content, undistorted meaning, a cited source and a retrieval date.

The answer marked as correct is the one in the board's official marking key, not our opinion. Where the board annulled a question we say so and mark no option: the key publishes no valid answer for it.

Every question carries a currency check made on 28.07.2026: whether the rule, plan or guideline the answer rests on is still the one in force, or has been replaced. Where the answer depends on an internal ICS document we could not verify, we say so instead of inventing one.

The exam is sat in Catalan and the official text is Catalan. The Spanish and English versions of these pages always show the Catalan original with a clearly labelled support translation underneath.

Why past papers are worth doing

Because the format repeats. Questions are multiple choice with four options and one correct answer, and the second exercise is practical cases: a clinical vignette followed by a chain of questions. Knowing how they are written saves minutes on the day.

Because they set the real bar. The gap between «I know this» and «I get it right under time pressure» is only measurable on real questions, not on summaries.

Because they show what is actually asked. The published papers reveal how much weight the cross-cutting block carries versus the category-specific one, and where the questions cluster.

How it is scored (and why sitting a whole paper matters)

The call is scored out of 150 points: 100 for the competitive examination stage and 50 for the merits stage.

The examination's 100 points are split into two exercises of 50 points each — the multiple-choice test and the practical cases — and a minimum of 25 points in each exercise is required to pass. A 45 on the test does not make up for a 20 on the cases: both must clear the minimum.

On top of the exam, Catalan must be certified: level C1 for nursing and level B1 for nursing assistants. Candidates without a qualifying certificate sit the language test.

That is why sitting a whole paper against the clock at least once is worth it: what decides the outcome is not the overall mark but the minimum in each half.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the ICS publish past papers?

On the ICS website's support page for preparing the competitive exam, as PDFs split by category and call. The marking key is published as a separate PDF from the paper itself. Both documents are linked on every exam page here.

Are the answers on these pages the official ones?

Yes. The answer marked as correct is the one in the marking key the board published for that model. Where the board annulled a question we mark no answer, because the key publishes no valid one.

Are old papers still useful if the syllabus has changed?

The format and the level always are. Specific content is not always: a question can be anchored to a plan or a schedule that has since been replaced. That is why every question carries a currency check made on 28.07.2026, and outdated ones are flagged rather than deleted.

Do I need an account to read the questions?

No. Every question, answer and source on these pages is open. An account is only needed to sit the paper in timed mode with automatic marking.

How many questions does the ICS exam have?

It depends on the call and the category: the most recent published nursing paper has 70 test questions and 25 practical-case questions, the nursing assistant paper 60 and 20. For call 100-2025 the number has not been published yet.

Do wrong answers cost marks?

In the published 2022 papers, no: the board's criteria state that unanswered and wrongly answered questions carry no deduction. Each board sets this per call, so it cannot be assumed for the next one.

You have read it. Now actually sit it.

Reading a solved paper and sitting it against the clock are not the same thing. Official exam mode gives you the same whole paper, timed, automatically marked, with the per-exercise score the way the board calculates it.
